RESCUE! Disposable Fly Trap Review

Not much going on in my personal life. Just work, school, and chores at home. I started my next class, Storyboarding for Animation, and I like it a lot so far. Anyway, the reason I'm posting is because I want to write a short review about RESCUE! Disposable Fly Trap.

RESCUE! Disposable Fly Trap

To start, I want to explain why I got the fly trap in the first place. As I mentioned in a previous post, our two dogs are kept in a large pen outside. They cannot come inside because we rent the house we are currently living in. For some reason flies would swarm all over the dogs food and water. I was worried about the dogs getting worms from the flies and also for sanitary reasons. Plus, I just hate flies. So, my husband and I went to Wal-Mart to see what we could find. We found the RESCUE! Disposable Fly Trap and decided to try it. Here are my observations.

Alright, this is how it works. (Taken from official RESCUE! website) "Inside the RESCUE!® Disposable Fly Trap is a bait that flies find irresistible. This attractant is comprised of food and feed ingredients, and other food flavorings generally recognized as safe. The attractant dissolves and activates when water is added to the bag. Lured by the scent, flies enter the trap through the yellow top cap and drown in the water."

RESCUE! claims that this trap catches up to 20,000 flies. I didn't count the flies caught in the trap hung by my dog pen, but it certainly looked like there were 20,000 flies in there. Check it out in the picture on the right. Isn't that disgusting?

Ease of use: This fly trap is extremely easy to use. When you first buy the fly trap the yellow cap is sealed inside the thick plastic bag. There is a dotted line in the shape of a circle that you must cut out with scissors. After you cut the plastic circle out the top part of the yellow piece pulls out as you see in the photo. That is where the flies crawl into the bag and cannot get back out. Next, fill the bag with water up to the designated line. This causes the attractant to activate and dissolve. Finally, simply tie a string (or rip up a coat hanger like I did) to the yellow cap and hang it outside wherever necessary.

Does it work? YES! I am so happy to say it does. The flies swarm around the trap and you can see the hundreds (maybe thousands) that get caught inside. It's really simple to use. The only negative thing I have to say about it is the clean up. After the bag fills up you simply shut the yellow cap and throw the entire trap away. That's all fine and dandy but it works so well that flies are still swarming around the trap so it's a little gross to remove. I hate flies so it was nasty having flies swarming all around my hands. But that isn't something that the creators can help. I guess it would be very possible to just take a long stick and dispose of it that way.

All in all, I give the RESCUE! Disposable Fly Trap 5 out of 5 stars. It's a great product and I recommend it.
