Happy Birthday to Me!
Yup, today is my birthday! I'm 23. I had a good day. My younger sister Sophie is visiting (We drove home to Ohio in April to visit because we're both laid off and Sophie came back with us). So, anyway. I made pancakes this morning, we all took showers, I answered my phone a billion times, and then we drove up to Roswell around 2pm.
We first went to the hobby lobby to get some fabric paint and T-shirts so that Sophie and I can stencil our own t-shirts. Then, we went to Wal-Mart so that I could pick out my gift from my husband. I already knew what I wanted so we went back to the electronics section. He wasn't feeling well, so he checked his blood sugar and was at 49! Ah! I rushed him up to the McDonalds at the front of Wal-mart and bought him some chicken nuggets and iced tea. He was still too low after about 20 minutes so we also got a double cheeseburger. That did the trick! We sat down until he was feeling better. Then, we went back to the electronics department and I picked out a printer/scanner/copier/fax machine! I've already tried it out and I love it! It prints and scans very nicely. I wanted to get a new printer because, since I am currently laid off, I want to start selling homemade crafts on Etsy.com. I'll need a nice printer for labels and such.
Anyway, it was almost 5pm at this point and I was STARVING, so we went to Applebees for my birthday dinner. We pull up to Applebees and notice that there's like, a party going on. Lots of people outside, tables, balloons, firtruck, ambulance, etc. It must have been some sort of fun event for kids or something. Anyway, we are seated, we get our drinks and eventually get our order taken. There's two clowns going around making balloon animals for people. One with a sombraro comes to our table and asks if anyone wants a balloon. Hubby and Sophie point to me so I say, "I do!" She lists off the stuff she can make so I ask, "What should I get guys?" and she asks if it's my birthday to which I reply that it is. So, she's all, "Then you must have a special birthday crown!" And I'm like cool. She has me pick out three colors and commences blowing up the balloons. After twisting two fo them together she's like "Uhh...that's not right." and couldn't figure it out. Finally, she's just like, "You're going to have a REALLY special birthday hat." Haha! So, I ended up with a whacked balloon hat.
After we were nearing the end of our meal, the waitress came over to check on us. Sophie leans over and tells the waitress it's my Birthday and the waitress is like, "I'll ask my manager if we can sing for you, but you for sure get a free dessert shooter." I'm not too fond of public attention so when she came back and said they couldn't sing I was relieved. She came back a little later to ask what dessert shooter I wanted and I told her not to worry about it and that I just wanted to order a chocolate chip cookie sundae. And she's all "Ok! I'll have them make that for you instead since we couldn't sing for you!" I'm like... sweet! A little while later she brings out a giant plate with this huge cookie, two scoops of ice cream, whipped cream and hot fudge with three spoons. Oh yeah... I left her a nice tip.
After we left Applebees we all pretty full and unmotivated so we went home. I set up my new printer and tested it out and then did my homework.
So, what else has happened that I need to write about? We're driving back to Ohio on or around May 25th because we have to appear in court. We filed a complaint against our last renters at the courthouse and got a letter in the mail informing us that we have to appear in court on May 29th. I'm confident we'll win. ... I hope. :S
Oh of course! A few days ago Sophie and I made Onigiri for the first time. They turned out pretty good. They fell apart a little because I had to use long grain rice. I thought I had short grain...but I didn't. They still tasted really good. I'll definitely be making them again.
Hubby and I have decided to start a family. I'm very excited about this. I've wanted to be a Mommy very badly since my last miscarriage. This time around I have the support of my husband who previously wanted to wait another couple of years. My monthly cycle is like clockwork so I should know in about a week if I'm preggers. I'm experiencing some unusual symptoms, but I don't want to jinx myself so I'll just zip it for now.
So, I think that's all for now. Sophie is brushing my hair right now and it feels sooo good. :]
