Commence Blogging 9/22/08

I'm going to build a shelter for my dogs. Before I go into detail I feel I must give a little history first. My husband and I moved to New Mexico in May 2008. So, we've only been here about 4 months. We still own our home back in Ohio, but we are renting it to a nice couple who is expecting a little girl. Until we get a ton of money stashed away we are renting a house here.

Anyway, the dogs are not allowed inside of the house we are renting. We keep them in a big fenced area in the back yard with lots of trees for shade. It's not bad for them, they love being outside... but not all the time. LoL Poor Rini hates being away from me. The picture you see is Rini snoozing on a big fluffy blanket in my car when we moved to New Mexico. Powder puff. :] Ahem, as I was saying, they're fine outside, but I hate when they have to sit out in the rain or windstorm or whatever. So, I'm going to build them a little lean-to AND it will have a Lucy-proof area to keep their food. She delights in emptying the food and water dishes and either flinging them about or chewing them mercilessly. I think I have devised a simple way to keep the food dishes safe. Below you will see some rough sketches of what I have in mind. Tomorrow I'll probably do something more technical with accurate measurements. It is basically just a 3-sided shelter with a slanted roof on hinges. Inside there will be enough room for both of the dogs to lay down as well as an area to contain their food.
What I'm imagining for the food is a shallow tray situated off the ground in the right hand corner. The left side will have a wall so the front remains open. On the right side attached to the inside of the lean-to will be a board on a hinge. This hinge will close in front of the 5 gallon feeder/waterer and latch on the other side. This should prevent Lucy from pulling the dishes out. I want their food and water off the ground to keep bugs away too. I decided on putting the roof on hinges for ease of use. The shelter is only going to be about 2.5 ft high; it would be a pain to have to stoop over to retrieve and replace their food dishes. Opening the top like a cellar door so you can just put the dishes straight down in is much easier. Yeah so... if anyone actually reads this, input is welcome.

Ok, moving on. I should be off for the next 3 or 4 days. YESSS!!! I'm so looking forward to sleeping in. I'm also looking forward to reading The Lord of Chaos (book 6 in the Wheel of Time series). That, I will start on tonight. I have less than a week left of my Dynamic Figure Drawing class. I'm doing well and I like the class, but it will be nice to have a break from school. I think I have 5 or 6 days after the end of my current class before my next class starts. I don't really have anything else to add. But, I do want to talk about the new Mint 3 Musketeers.

3 Musketeers: MINT

Where do I begin? Ok, I'll start with what it is. The 3 Musketeers Mint candy bar is basically fluffy mint nougat covered in dark chocolate. Simple right? Rather than being one single bar in the package, it is two small bars next to each other longways. For the sake of my fingers I'm going to abbreviate 3 Musketeers Mint as 3MM. The 3MM is much thinner than it's predecessor the 3 Musketeers. I sort of felt a little cheated, but the taste actually made up for it. And heck, no one really needs that extra bite. Biting into the 3MM was very much like biting into a York Peppermint Pattie except without the minty shiver I always seem to get with York Pepperment Patties. It was also not as dense as a York Peppermint Pattie. The consistency is just like a normal 3 Musketeers. I love the taste. I think they balanced the bittersweet dark chocolate with the sweet minty nougat perfectly. I give it 5 stars. The taste is amazing, I appreciate the size; I'll have one less bite going straight to my ass, and the packaging is pretty, shiny, and green. I also like the mint leaf they used to dot the "i" in "Mint". It leaves your mouth feeling a little fresher too.

I totally did my eye makeup awesome today. Subtle and sultry, except for in this picture because I'm making a really dumb face you can't see. LoL
