Food
Well... things could be better, but my husband and I are not off too badly. Everyone at the company we work for is getting a 15% pay cut. It sucks but I'm thankful that we haven't been laid off. Things are chugging forward as usual; school, work, housework, etc. Anyway, I've been experimenting with Asian cooking recently. 1.) It's healthier 2.) I like to cook. So, I've tried a few things this past week and I just wanted to post some pictures.
Here's a shrimp fettuccine-type dish made with Shirataki noodles. I was afraid of the taste at first because the noodles smelled very fishy, but a good rinsing took care of that. I shop at the Asian Food Grocer for most of my ingredients. http://www.asianfoodgrocer.com/
This is my first attempt at making California rolls. They're not too pretty but they tasted great!

That's about all I have right now. I'm still trying to get our first tenants address so I can take them to court, but they aren't cooperating very well. They stole my dryer and wrecked my house. *sigh* Justice will be served... one day.
Ciao!
Edit: I almost forgot! I thought this was a little funny. Hubby and I went out for a quick grocery shopping trip. Well, I'm trying to lose weight and live healthier, but I have a serious sugar addiction. So, as I'm shopping I see these Little Debbie snack cakes. My eye is immediately drawn to the Triple Fudge Brownies stamped with "100 CALORIES!" On the box. So, I look at the nutrition label and sure enough it says 100 calories per serving. This "per serving" thing they do can fool you at times because a serving might be just a corner of the actual brownie. But to my relief it said the serving size was one brownie. So, I buy the brownies because it is the lesser of two evils. (It was either the brownies or a pint of Ben & Jerry's). After hubby and I eat a delicious, nutritious meal consisting of chicken fried rice and california rolls I break out the brownies. I eagerly tear open one end of the box and out falls my brownie fix ... and I laugh. Take a look at the picture below. I placed a quarter next to the brownie so you could all get an idea of it's size.

I actually measured it. It's 1 ¾" across and ¼" high. Don't get me wrong... it tastes FABULOUS ... but um, I ate it in one bite. You know what I need? I need one of those dog feeders that dispenses food at programmed times. And it should have a password that I don't know.
Ok, I'm really going now. :)
